In a state as wealthy as Massachusetts, no one should go hungry. Yet even here in the Merrimack Valley, 1 in 3 residents reported experiencing food insecurity last year. For decades, the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) has helped close that gap. SNAP provides food benefits to low-income individuals and families, with the goal of supplementing their grocery budgets with nutritious food. SNAP delivers $240 million in food assistance statewide each month with over 1 million people in Massachusetts relying on SNAP including 430,000 children. In Lawrence, where we work, 42% of the population receive SNAP benefits.

At our recent Gala, we debuted a powerful new video that highlights the incredible journey of Serafina, a Guest at Lazarus House Ministries. Her accomplishments are a testament to the resilience of our Guests and the generosity of supporters like you. Now, we’re thrilled to share it with our entire community.
Meet Ashley – a true warrior who faced homelessness, escaped an abusive relationship and even endured a temporary separation from her children. With the support of Lazarus House Ministries, Ashley turned her life around, found hope, embraced change, and worked tirelessly to rebuild her life. Her story is a testament to the professionalism of the Lazarus House staff and to the ability of the human spirit to overcome any hurdle.

On this National Volunteer Week, our dedicated Volunteers have come together to support Lazarus House in so many ways.

Forty Years would not have been possible without the contributions of so many amazing, wonderful community partners, faith organizations, businesses, individuals, and others who came together to make a difference.

We are pleased to present our heartfelt THANK YOU VIDEO to our many amazing Volunteers!
