What is Advocacy at Lazarus House?

What is Advocacy at Lazarus House?

At Lazarus House, Advocacy is the heart of the ministry

It is servant leadership at its best – serving God and serving Guests. It is connecting Guests to their potential and ensuring each and every Guest has the opportunity to reach their goals. We do this by treating each person that comes to us with dignity and respect, seeing in them the face of Jesus, and providing the individual care, guidance and resources required for their unique and often complex situations.

Meet Our Advocacy Team

Our team is made up of professionals who are experienced in their area of our Ministry. Our Advocate team works collaboratively each week, sharing situations and ideas, and upturning every stone to unpack Guest experiences and struggles to help them determine “the next right step.”

We acknowledge and remember that:

  • Each Guest is a child of God.
  • Every Guest is worthy of honor, dignity and respect.
  • It is a privilege to be invited to come alongside our Guests.
  • Not everyone’s 24 hours is equal.
  • Not everyone’s access is equal.
  • People’s lives and circumstances are often complex.
  • It takes time to earn trust.
  • Every Guest has something to give.
  • There are inequities for people struggling with poverty.
