The Work Preparation Training program was developed with one thing in mind: to move families and individuals out of poverty and homelessness and to assist them in becoming productive and self-sufficient citizens within their communities.

Lazarus House provides ESOL training, pre-employment skills classes, Culinary Training and Spark*L.E Cleaning as work preparation as well as ongoing mentoring. With this innovative program, these individuals will have the opportunity to increase their employment potential, learn how to effectively retain a good job, and/or expand their advancement potential with their personal employment experiences.

English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) training is essential for many immigrants who live in Lawrence to live fuller lives and get better jobs. We conduct English as a Second Language education as part of our Work Preparation Program.

SPARK*L.E. Cleaning

SPARK*L.E. Cleaning Services is a social enterprise that offers office and industrial cleaning with an emphasis on transferability of skills and advancement capacity through pre-employment, work maturity and basic skill’s components.

Culinary Food Training

“Guest Chefs” offer instruction in the preparation of a signature dish or culinary topic of their choice. After the hands-on training students are placed in a 3-month paid internship to get ‘real world’ experience.

If you would like to be considered for one of our training tracks, you can fill out an online application and the Work Force Preparation Coordinator will contact you.
