Position Summary:

The HR Assistant/Office Assistant will provide assistance to the Director of Human Resources to ensure that HR functions are completed and provide general office assistance to the rest of the Ministry. This individual must be able to effectively manage competing priorities, make sound judgements regarding sensitive matters/information, thrive in a fast paced environment, and be able to keep information confidential.

Position Description:

HR Assistant

· Assist with HR Audits for internal and external groups.

· Assist with processing of terminations and new hires.

· Assist with the administration of the performance management process.

· Post jobs on job boards and schedule interviews.

· Escalate employee relations issues to the Director of Human Resources.

· Complete Forms I-9, verifies I-9 documentation and maintains I-9 files.

· Meet with new hires to ensure completion of onboarding paperwork.

· Assist the Director of Human Resources with implementing new HR programs and technology.

· Assist with special projects as assigned.

· Respond to and process employment verification requests.

· Process benefit enrollments and changes.

· Act as a point of contact for staff and leaders within the Ministry for routine HR inquiries.

· Responsible for maintaining personnel files and filing for the department.

· Drafts correspondence for the Director of Human Resources as needed.

· Generate reports from the HRIS/Payroll system as needed and enter data.

· Reconcile benefit invoices and submit them to the Director of Human Resources for payment.

· Performs other duties as assigned.

Office Assistant

· Assist with audits concerning the Ministry.

· Maintain shared calendars and schedule meetings for managers and senior leadership.

· Provide general office support to the Leadership Team and other areas of the Ministry as needed.

· Provide backup to reception as needed and be responsible for answering the main office door.

· Sort and distribute mail for the Ministry.

· Provide support to other areas of the Ministry as needed.

· Act as a point of contact for staff and leaders within the Ministry for general office needs.

· Makes photocopies; mails, scans and emails documents; and performs other clerical functions.

· Tracks inventory of office supplies and organizes supplies.

· Performs other duties as assigned.


· Bilingual in English/Spanish required.

· Demonstrate strong commitment to the mission of Lazarus House Ministries.

· Understanding and support of how the Gospel foundation drives our decisions and actions throughout the Ministry.

· Able to travel from building to building within the ministry and external agencies.

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

· Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.

· Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

· Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.

· Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.

· Knowledge of human resource policies and procedures.

· Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.

· High School Diploma/GED required.

· Associate’s degree in a related field preferred.

· 2 years of office experience preferred.

· HR/Payroll experience preferred.
