Thank you for being with us in person or spirit as we celebrated what God has done through Bridget and this ministry. Thank you for continuing the good work of Lazarus House in the decades to come, building on the foundation God allowed Bridget to build here.
Based on your requests, we have extended the opportunity to donate a brick to our new Garden of Hope to August 31.
Bridget devoted her 36 year ministry at Lazarus House to living out the Gospel Message taken from Matthew 25: 35-40:
“For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’ Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’ The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.”
Her uplifting spirit, inclusive energy, prayerful decision making and contagious commitment to showing compassion and kindness has set Lazarus House Ministries apart. What a gift she has given us.
Bridget never lost sight of God’s calling through this Ministry. Her obedience in tirelessly focusing on preserving dignity for the materially poor and underprivileged has left us with a beautiful example to follow. She has truly left us with a legacy of love to continue, emulate and repeat. In honor of Bridget’s retirement, we are building on her foundation of love and dignity, by creating a meditation garden at St. Nicholas Residence, our newest program site.
This garden will be a tangible way to honor the legacy that Bridget has created while also providing hope, inspiration and serenity to individuals who are overcoming obstacles and striving for a better life for themselves and their families.
Please consider purchasing a brick. Each brick will display your own personal words of hope, inspiration and love, which will provide our guests with the strength and courage they need to continue moving forward out of poverty. Our Garden of Hope will be a daily visual reminder to our guests that they have an entire community of people who support them, love them and are walking alongside them in their journey.
