Retirement Celebration honoring Bridget Shaheen
Thursday, June 13, 2019
at Merrimack College
The Collegiate Church of Christ the Teacher
followed by a reception at the
Sakowich Campus Center
As a small part of God’s desire to comfort and bless his treasured people, Bridget Shaheen has devoted her 36 year ministry at Lazarus House to living out the Gospel Message taken from Matthew 25: 35-40:
“For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’ Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’ The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.”
Her uplifting spirit, inclusive energy, prayerful decision making and contagious commitment to showing compassion and kindness has set Lazarus House Ministries apart. What a gift she has given us.
Bridget never lost sight of God’s calling through this Ministry. Her obedience in tirelessly focusing on preserving dignity for the materially poor and underprivileged has left us with a beautiful example to follow. She has truly left us with a legacy of love to continue, emulate and repeat. May we hold dearly to her living example of Christ’s love as we stay the course of serving our guests in the days, years and decades to come.
Please RSVP by May 24th.
Garden of Hope
Building on Bridget’s legacy one brick at a time.
Just as Bridget has done for the past 36 years, you too can leave a permanent legacy of love and inspiration for generations to come.
In honor of Bridget’s retirement, we are building on her foundation of love and dignity, by creating a meditation garden at St. Nicholas Residence, our newest program site.
This garden will be a tangible way to honor the legacy that Bridget has created while also providing hope, inspiration and serenity to individuals who are overcoming obstacles and striving for a better life for themselves and their families.
Please consider purchasing a brick. Each brick will display your own personal words of hope, inspiration and love, which will provide our guests with the strength and courage they need to continue moving forward out of poverty. Our Garden of Hope will be a daily visual reminder to our guests that they have an entire community of people who support them, love them and are walking alongside them in their journey.
Please submit your Inspiration Brick order by June 28th.
Bridget’s Keepsake Book
As a way to thank Bridget for all the love she has shared, we are creating a keepsake book of the many treasured friends and moments she has encountered over the years.
This beautiful book will be presented to her as a gift of our thanks at the event.
INSPIRATION FOR YOUR MESSAGE
Please submit that which lies in your heart from a cherished memory, expression of gratitude, message of congratulations to an inspired quote, bible verse or song lyric.
Personalized handwritten notes on stationery are highly recommended as they can be scanned into the book if size and readability permit.
Your contribution will be a lasting remembrance for Bridget to behold.
We’ve extended our date for submittals! Please submit all materials by June 30th.
